The first job was to remove the twisted canopy section with various drills and power tools, oh and the removal of a few hundred rivets! The first 2 days of the restoration are up and the roof is off in 5 seperate sections......job done

A while ago on a trip to Everett Aero in Ipswich I almost fell over when I spotted a couple of new un-used canopy sections, with the elusive top perspex! Made in the 1970's this canopy looks like it has been out in the elements for many years but came complete with its large timber transport frame. After successful negotiations a canopy was delivered at the end of Feb 2008.

Another day of the restoration spent cleaning the canopy frame and perspex. The only damage was to the front strut section which was damaged beyond repair (see photo below)....thankfully the original one is OK and was left in situ. The canopy was missing the front perspex but the all important frame was in place. Both front panels are emergency exits on the Scout and are held in place by a rubber seal. Thankfully a replacement had been found before delivery but I will not fit it until the canopy is in place.
